And the Revoluation Continues will You Be the Voice?

I woke up this morning to over a 160 messages regarding our "Revolution". God that feeling was great. Imagine most folks would say 160 that's not a lot, however it really is. If those 160 share it and just 1 of their friends share it and then 1 of their friends share it just imagine the impact this is going to have.

I work in the mental health field, it is by far not the easiest field to be a social worker in.  I advocate for the little ones and I just love it and would not change it for the world. I see every day the impact that bullies have in children's lives. They have lost hope and faith in humanity and do not trust and believe in their community.  They feel lost and with no voice and feel because they are often of low income that no matter how loud they scream no one is going to hear them or even care.

This is where we step in and we try to make the lives better one piece at a time.  All the individuals I work with take great passion in what they do.  I can assure you not one soul in my office does what they do for the pay check because trust and believe it is not that big.  But that's OK!

We dedicated our lives to be the VOICE not only for our children but for others and my heart just melts that my son is willing to step out of the shadows and scream "I will no longer be a victim".  I read to him a few of the comments that people are leaving, comments of love and peace and support for this cause.  The smile on his face just got bigger and bigger and he began to tell me about a friend of his at school.  He said he saw him kind of hanging out in the corner all alone.  He walked over to him and said are you alright what is wrong?  The boy opened up to him and Tarique told him "Sometimes when people feel down about themselves they want others to keep them company and feel just as bad about themselves as they do" he then went on to tell the boy he needed to tell someone and that he would be their friend.

Getting rid of these bullies will not happen over night and we all know that.  Speaking up and being a community that states "You know what we will not be victims any longer, we will not allow our children to be victims any longer" this is what is going to make change.  Advocacy starts in the home and having parents that will stand strong and say THIS IS NOT RIGHT  makes a big difference.

Tarique's therapist told him last night "You are not alone, there is  a whole community that is around you and if 1 child is saved from this then we are all successful in this movement".

We don't want to be only Reactive and only speak up when a child kills either themselves or someone else.  Let's be Proactive, let's be that voice now because I am here to tell you there are many kids out there searching for the courage and the strength to say it's OK.

And with that I leave you with these words.....

The Revolution Continues will you stand, will you be a voice against Bullies, will you be that extra push to make a change?
